Vietnam ace to speak at leadership event

By Air Force Association, Paul Revere Chapter

“DeBellevue was the first United States Air Force weapons systems officer to become an ace during the Vietnam War in 1972. DeBellevue became America’s top “MiG Killer” when he and his pilot, Capt. John Madden, downed two MiGs, giving him six in total, the most earned during the Vietnam War.”

As reported in the Hansconian, Chuck DeBellevue-Vietnam War Ace is coming to speak at the Minuteman Commons, Hanscom AFB, MA on 21 March-4:30PM. Our chapter is hosting a Leadership and AF Heritage night with guest speaker Colonel (Retired) DeBellevue.  He served the Air Force for 30 years and he continues to support AFA through his local and national speaking engagements.

III.  Closing-Up 2012 and Into 2013:

By Keith M. Taylor, Chapter President

We’ve almost completed our first quarter in 2013 and our chapter has never stopped since our annual holiday party.  There is so much goodness in our chapter that comes from our many volunteers and members.  Our successful 3rd Annual Fun Run was again productive, so at our party, we were able to present $5,000 to Hanscom’s Friend and Families.  Proceeds that have already gone far to support deployed troops and their families!!

It was bittersweet, in December as we wished Mary Zeger great success on her future in Texas.  The PRC thanked her for the many teachers she helped us recognize with cash awards for quality education programs and instruction.  Mary was a reliable volunteer in our Chapter Education Program and at our first two Fun Runs.

One of our AFA Nationally recognized medal of merit winners, Fred Webster was called up to the microphone for thanks to his many, many years in serving the chapter in our Veterans’ Program.

V.  Reminder for why we serve…

The Air Force Association is a non-profit organization that Educates; Advocates and Supports for “AirPower”.  The Paul Revere Chapter is one of the key and active field units that carry this Airpower theme down to the many Air Force members, troops, Veterans, Retirees, and Air Force families in and around Hanscom Air Force Base, Boston, Lowell, Worcester and surrounding communities.

Our chapter has over 900 members, led by a dedicated team of chapter officers and volunteers, who lean forward to Educate; Advocate and Support the Air Force Family.

There are many great tasks and events we carry out each year.  Here are just a few examples.

**We serve and care for Veterans.

**We mentor young airmen.

**We raise funds for care packages for deployed troops and their families.

**Scholarships are raised and presented to deserving high school students

**Air Force ROTC and Junior ROTC detachments are financially supported by our chapter.

**We connect with Community Partners and network with Industry.

**We execute AF technical symposiums; holiday parties; Leadership and Heritage events.

**Educators are supported and encouraged by our chapter.

**We reach out to appointed Community Leaders and officials locally and nationally…to communicate the

Importance of Airpower and the Air Force Family.
