About

AFA helps educate America about science, technology and our national defense. AFA is dedicated to assuring America’s aerospace excellence through education. Through scholarships, grants, awards and public awareness, AFA provides America with the tools needed to educate the public and our youth on the importance of science and technology to our national defense.

The Paul Revere Chapter plays a highly visible and growing role in supporting the mission and educational programs of the Air Force Association. In 2011, the chapter supported Visions of Exploration, Educator Grants, Cyber Patriot, and Teacher Recognition Grants.

Visions of Exploration is a joint effort between USA Today and local Air Force Association Chapters that provides elementary school teachers across the nation with a curriculum to enhance student understanding and appreciation of math and science, and to sharpen students' critical and strategic thinking skills. The Paul Revere Chapter is currently supporting 13 elementary and middle schools under this program. It has been very well received by the teachers and their students, and there is also on online curriculum that allows the students to delve further into certain subjects and share it with their families at home.

Cyber Patriot is the premiere national high school cyber defense competition created to inspire high school students to pursue careers in cyber security or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future. The Paul Revere chapter assists in recruiting high schools to participate in this exciting competition, and nine high schools from MA signed up in 2011. One of the high schools, Montachusett Regional, made it to the final rounds and our chapter reached out to them to offer support and much deserved congratulations. It is our goal to continue to register more teams, as Cyber Patriot is open to all high schools. Educator Grants and Teacher Recognition Programs remain one of the Paul Revere Chapter's most proud contributions to the Education arena. Each academic year we ask math and science staffs about their greatest need, and then we try to support that area. Each spring we recognize two teachers for their outstanding work and excellence in their respective fields. We have a small recognition ceremony, where we praise their work, enjoy lunch and provide gift certificates as a token of our appreciation for their commitment to the students.
